Herbology 101

I have been craving my own herb garden for a few weeks now and this weekend I finally decided to just go for it, especially since Trader Joe's had a basil plant on sale for less than the regular packaged basil! I ended up planting basil, Italian parsley, mint, and chives.

Here are some tips for planting your own potted herb garden: 1) buy a large enough planter to allow the herbs and their roots enough space to grow, 2) scatter rocks on the bottom of the planter for easier drainage, 3) make sure to buy the correct type of soil (I have been told that organic soil is much better for herbs), and 4) don't forget to water your new lovely greens!

Happy Monday!!

Sandal Mania

{ 1. Givenchy | 2. Ugg | 3. Calvin Klein | 4. DV by Dolce Vita | 5. MIA | 6. Michael Antonio | 7. Gabriella Rocha | 8. Clarks | 9. Steve Madden }

Even though I have a closet full of shoes (I have a problem), I seem to never have any summer sandals. Then there is always the problem of having varying heel heights for different outings. These sandals all caught my eye. It's great to have classic black and nude sandals, but with bright colors being this summer's go to fashion, your tootsies are a great way to make a statement. I'll be honest, the Givenchy, Dolce Vita, and Michael Antonio shoes are my favorite... ok maybe not, gah! I can't decide! I want them ALL!

Happy Thursday everyone! It's almost the weekend!

Ok, I know I have worn both these shorts and shoes fairly recently, but I absolutely love them. The classic and sexy silhouette on top of the modern color have made these a staple in my closet. I'm also obsessed with sheer tops and wearing something that pops underneath. Man- I wish I was by this pool again!

Vintage Celebuspawn

 {Elizabeth Taylor and her daughter, Liza}

I found these great candid photos of celebrity children from days gone by (all images via Time&Life Pictures), and I couldn't help but think about my mom and childhood. It's wonderful to see these silver screen glamorous icons "ooing" and "ahhing" over their adorable children. It's been a difficult work week on my end, and finding these images just made me cheer up instantly! What lucky little girls! I hope you enjoy these as much as I did.

Perfectly Peplum

Happy Thursday, Everyone! I'd just like to say that this entire outfit is from Marshalls!! I fell in love with this top when I saw it, it is so unique and it matched a favorite pair of shoes of mine. I tried this shirt on with jeans and - yeah- not so much - definitely a shorts style. I was lucky that my toesies matched my shoes as well!

I'm on my way to San Diego Comic Con this weekend and then out of town for work next week, but I will try and post when I can! Much love xoxo

Workin' it in Summer

With summer here (and it being California), we get to wear bright, eye-catching colors to work. This look lets you express yourself while still being conservative enough for the office (at least it is for my office). It's a little much, but sometimes, you just need some fun at work! I love these ASOS shoes, they are reasonable and so adorbs. My whole inspiration for this outfit started with the hot pink Banana Republic skirt!

Happy Tuesday! xoxo

Tardy for the Party

Hi friends!! Sorry it has been a while since my last post, I was sick most of last week :( I was able to enjoy a little bit of 4th of July and bake some goodies! I felt a little adventurous and made my first custard pie (above) with a Nilla wafer crust and I also made my favorite dessert ever- red velvet cupcakes and cream cheese frosting! yum! Although, I unfortunately lost my old favorite recipes for red velvet cupcakes and frosting at the grocery store while buying supplies so I had to search for a new one and I didn't really like these nearly as much. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out my old ratios for the next batch!

Weekend Memories

 {Salt's Cure brunch menu}

This weekend was perfectly relaxing and friend-filled. My best friend and I started at Santa Monica beach for the great weather in Los Angeles on Saturday. It wasn't too hot (except walking bare foot on the sand for more than 30 seconds... that wasn't fun!) and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. On Sunday I had brunch at Salt's Cure, an adorable and delicious food spot in West Hollywood. The menu constantly changes and everything is made fresh - including their pickles! The 2x2x2 was spectacular! The bacon, the eggs, the sausage, the grease! I highly recommend it if you are looking for a new place to grab some grub.

Finally, Sunday night I saw TED at the Vintage Cinemas Vista Theatre in Los Feliz. This theater is so gorgeous, it even shows the old 50's concession commercials before they show the movie! Great way to close the weekend.
